2500 acting as DHCP server

Hi all. Im running a 2500 with 11.1 firmware. It doesnt seem to support acting as a dhcp server. I see on a pdf on cisco's site that it will do it, so Im thinking this is supported only at a certain version of code and higher. Would anyone know what that firmware version would be by chance? On 1700s, I read its 12.0 something or higher. I cant seem to find what it is on the 2500 series. Anyone know?

There are a couple of feature sets that don't include the dhcp server (mostly due to their age and limitations of flash etc)

However, your 2500 should be able to run a 12.x series image

http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/index.jsp

The IOS feature locator should help you find the correct image for your router with the required features (in this case DHCP)

It tells me that it should be in the 12.3 release (it doesn't go back to 11)

Hi,

12.0 Will support it. I dont feel you will able to find this ios in cisco unless you request them for or open a case.

In search you will find 12.1 as below.

You will not able to download it from cisco again. I have pasted the output for you to compare the min dram and flash.

Hope this helps!!

The original post asked about a 2500 router. The information that you posted is about 2600. So its information about dram and flash is not helpful.

John

I have found release notes for the 2500 which seem to indicate that there is support for DHCP server in release 12.0T (the T train of code not mainline) which suggests that DHCP server would be available in 12.1 mainline code.

I went to download software and found it pretty easily. I did get the 12.1 code. Ill put that on and give it a try. Thanks.

John

From the documentation that I found I would think that 12.1 should provide support for DHCP server. Please let us know the outcome when you have the new code loaded.
