Some SFPs/GBICs support digital optical monitoring (DOM), per SFF-8472, which provides some optical power information (transceiver temperature, internally measured supply voltage, TX bias current, TX output power, received optical power, and two additional quantities to be defined in the future.).
The following document provides a Cisco compatibility matrix for Cisco SFP/GBICs, line cards, and software support.

I found this information regarding the IOS command to retrieve the DOM information stored in the memory.
âshow interfaces transceiverâ
To display information about the optical transceivers that have digital optical monitoring (DOM) enabled, use the show interfaces transceiver command in privileged EXEC mode.

I have not worked with this DOM feature, but I hope this helps.
