Hi,

I have a 876 router connected to an adsl line. The connection seems to work perfectly, but I do receive entries like this in the syslog in every few hours:

2008-06-14 09:59:16 Local7.Info xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 256: 000253: Jun 14 08:59:16.162 PCTime: %DIALER-6-UNBIND: Interface Vi2 unbound from profile Di0

2008-06-14 09:59:17 Local7.Error xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 257: 000254: Jun 14 08:59:16.174 PCTime: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Virtual-Access2, changed state to down

2008-06-14 09:59:18 Local7.Notice xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 258: 000255: Jun 14 08:59:17.149 PCTime: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Virtual-Access2, changed state to down

2008-06-14 09:59:38 Local7.Info xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 259: 000256: Jun 14 08:59:38.368 PCTime: %DIALER-6-BIND: Interface Vi2 bound to profile Di0

2008-06-14 09:59:39 Local7.Error xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 260: 000257: Jun 14 08:59:38.975 PCTime: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Virtual-Access2, changed state to up

2008-06-14 09:59:42 Local7.Notice xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 261: 000258: Jun 14 08:59:41.623 PCTime: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Virtual-Access2, changed state to up

Is there a problem with the router's settings or do i have a crappy adsl line? How can i diagnose it?

Hi,

This means that the link is unstable. Clear the interface counters and check for the interace status output for errors.

If this errors are increasing rapidly you will need to contact the telco and get the link tested.

Once this is done configuration can be verifed.

Hopr this helps.

Regards,

Pravin
