Port mirroring on a 4507

I'm trying to mirror traffic from one port on the switch to another one.

What i'm doing so far is the following:

monitor session 1 source interface Gi3/1

monitor session 1 destination interface Gi3/29

But the problem is that Line Protocol is down on por 29.

I've been reading a little and looks like i need to add the commands "ingress vlan"

I tried this and port 29 still says line protocol down. Am i missing something?

It sounds like a physical layer problem. Have you verified the NIC and cables of the sniffer? If you plug the same sniffer and cable into a different port than Gi3/29, does that port come up?

Does it looking something like this

GigabitEthernet3/29 is up, line protocol is down (monitoring)

My bad.

I was adding the wrong Vlan #.

After i added the right vlan it fired right up.
