PWR675 RPS switches to standby all by itself

Unanswered Question

I've got a PWR675-AC-RPS supplying backup power to a group of 3750G switches. Every week or so, I find it switched to standby (amber LEDs) though none of the switches has failed.

When I check the syslogs of the connected switches, they just start reporting:

%PLATFORM_ENV-1-PWR_RPS: Redundant power supply faulty or in standby mode

in the middle of the night... no other activity. What's up?

I have this problem too.

Hi,

It seems to be some problem with the redundant power supply.

Can you paste the output of show env all.

regards

Pravin

I'm having the same issue. Here is the complete SysLog entry:

4/19/2010 12:57 PM : PLATFORM_ENV-1-PWR_RPS  1812: Apr 19 12:57:19: %PLATFORM_ENV-1-PWR_RPS: Redundant power supply faulty or in standby mode

and here is the sh env rps:

3750-Stack#sh env rps
SW  Status          RPS Name          RPS Serial#  RPS Port#
--  -------------   ----------------  -----------  ---------
1   Standby         <>
2   Standby         <>

3750-Stack#

Has the RPS failed?

Will it still function in an outage situation?

What other remote troubleshooting steps can I take. Unfortunately I am quite a ways away from the device.

Thanks,

Ken
