4402 Ports

Hello,

I currently have a working Wireless infrastructure with a 4402 controller and 25 Access Points. I would like to put in a guest network and have it completely separate from my current network.

Would I be able to take one of the distribution ports and plug it into a external switch for guest access?

Will this affect my current wireless network?

I haven't tried this but I suspect it would not work. The ports were meant to be used for redundancy or in tandem as a LAG group. You can split multiple sfp ports for AP management but I don't think the controller could route SSID designated traffic. I may be wrong as I stated I have not tried it before m'self.

You can actually do this as long as lag is not enabled. You just have to define the port for your guest ssid. Example: Management and AP-Manager will use port 1. Internal users will also be configured to use port 1. Guest user will be configured to use port 2. So all you have to do is connect the port 2 to a dmz or dsl modem or whatever you wnat to have guest use.
