TOTAL VOIP BEGINNER IN NEED OF HELP :o(

Hi Guys. Hoping someone out there can help me.

I recently setup a voip SIP account with a local provider but chose not to buy the hardware from there as it was very expensive. I have bought a CISCO 7960G for a reasonable price and have no clue how to go about setting it up to work with my SIP account. All i basically want to do it to be able to make a recieve telephone calls on 1 line, yet still i am baffled. unfortunately my voip provider will only provide support on their hardware. any help would be much appreciated guys and literally stop me tearing my hair out!. Thanks!

Hi, the phone you chosen is not very easy to make work with SIP accounts.

I suggest you changpe the hone for a linksys model that is much easier to make to work.

However if you still want to try that, you can go to www.voip-info.org and search on the subject.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

A softphone would be easier.

Make sure you first put the SIP firmware on the phone.

and run a TFTP server to do this.

pretty much a matter of editing the SIP.cnf file and dialplan.xml

otherwise run Asterisk to register it,
