Would you use EIGRP if it was "open"

Would anyone else here deploy EIGRP more readily if it was an "open" protocol (or even if Cisco licensed it to other vendors)

From what I can gather its propietry nature makes quite a few people feel uneasy about deploying it.

Personally I think it's a fantastic protocol but if it needs to work with other vendors equipment it's a bit of a pain (redistrubution is an option I guess)

So would more of you use EIGRP if Cisco allowed other vendors to implment it?

I believe that it is fairly obvious, as you observe, that some people have some reluctance to deploy EIGRP because it is a proprietary protocol. I have worked for some customers who have a corporate policy of deploying multi vendor solutions and on that basis would not deploy EIGRP. If Cisco were to change and were to make EIGRP available to multiple vendors then there would probably be a few more implementations of EIGRP. But I am not convinced that the number of adoptions of EIGRP would be significant.
