In a active/standby config, should I use a hardwired cross-connection between them or a separate switch between them. How about in a active/active config? Thanks

According to the configuration guide, you should either use the failover cable (special cable) or the LAN.

Hope that helps.

Use the failover cable. It was designed for a reason.

special cable was designed for PIX not for ASA.

on ASA you should do LAN based failover.

Dear,

Best way is to use a switch or dedicated vlan.
