tftp failed, no space left

I attempted to upload a new IOS image to my 2924. However, the upload failed and now I have no space left in flash. But the existing IOS image is not taking up the space and yet I cannot see the failed files or what is taking up the space...

test_switch#dir flash:

Directory of flash:/

18 -rwx 1838 Feb 28 1993 17:22:04 config2.text

3612672 bytes total (295424 bytes free)

It says over 3.6 megs are in use, and only 295k is free. Yet the existing image is only 1.8 megs.

Where can I delete the hidden files?

You delete that diag file also . We usually just delete the existing , as long as no one kills power to the switch you will be fine.

it is more than likely hiding something in the html directory.

Hmmm... checked there, but it did not seem like the culprit.

Can I safely delete the html/ directory or its contents? Or should I delete the running IOS image?

You can nuke the entire HTML directory. It's totally useless unless you plan to administer the switch via HTML (I don't recommend doing so, learn your CLI :)).

By looking at all the JAR files, you should have enough space after deleting HTML contents for both images.

You can also delete your current running IOS image and copy the new one. As long as you don't reboot in the interim, you should be fine as the IOS is loaded in RAM.

HTH,

I am definitely a CLI guy. Hate HTML. It's just been too long since I last administered a Cisco switch.

What is the best way to nuke this entire directory? Again, my CLI is still rusty.

Thanks for the info.

Delete the files one at the time, for instance:

delete flash:/html/CiscoChartPanel.jar

Then after the HTML folder is empty, delete the directory.

Perhaps you've overlooked that the CMS.jar file in the HTML directory is 1.2 MB.

Combine that with the 1.8 MB IOS, and you're at ~ 3 MB.

The remaining files make up the rest.
