hi all, i am taking this para from this link

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_1/wan/configuration/guide/wcdfrely.html#wp1002096

"This command (Frame-relay interface-dlci) is typically used on subinterfaces; however, it can also be applied to main interfaces. The frame-relay interface-dlci command is used to enable routing protocols on main interfaces that are configured to use Inverse ARP. This command is also helpful for assigning a specific class to a single PVC on a multipoint subinterface"

i didnt understand the reason it gave for defining dlci on main interface ! if i dont give dlci on main interface still i am able to run all routing protocols so what is it trying to tell ?

Any help plz

"frame-relay interface-dlci "

This command is required for all point-to-point subinterfaces; it is also required for multipoint subinterfaces for which dynamic address resolution is enabled. It is not required for multipoint subinterfaces configured with static address mappings.
