Hi, I see this logs in my access points:
*Jun 26 11:59:18.115: LWAPP_CLIENT_ERROR: lwapp_name_lookup - Could Not resolve CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER
What is the meaning of this messages?

It's the ap trying to discover a controller via dns. You have a wireless lan controller? You need one with this type of ap. If you look at the model number printed on the back of the ap, you will see LAP1242 or LAP1131, these are lightweight ap's. If you want autonomous ap's you need AP1242 or AP1131. Don't know what type of ap you have. You can convert LAP's to autonomous.

Hi, yes is the LAP model 1131, and I have a WLC version 5. I would like configure discover via DNS, you known, How I can do it?

All you have to do is add a dns entry for CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER.yourdomain.com with an ip address of one of your wlc management interface.

In your corporate DNS add an A record of
CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER with the IP address of the controller. You can also do this with DHCP options but some people find the DNS easier.

OK, I will configure the LAP with address statics and add the IP Managment as CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER in the DNS.

Hi, I have another question is the following log:
AP001d.e557.280c#lwapp ap ip address 192.168.20.72 255.255.255.0
ERROR!!! Command is disabled
Because this command is disable, the log is from the LAP1131.
06-26-2008 12:35 PM
This is because the ap has joined a wlc already.
Here is from another thread:
First, check the flash:
lap_1131#dir
Directory of flash:/
2 -rwx 279 May 09 2008 11:52:20 +00:00 env_vars
4 -rwx 6168 May 09 2008 11:52:20 +00:00 private-multiple-fs
6 drwx 256 May 09 2008 11:49:05 +00:00 c1130-k9w8-mx.124-3g.JA2
5 drwx 128 Mar 01 2002 00:03:43 +00:00 c1130-rcvk9w8-mx
15998976 bytes total (10716672 bytes free)
Then delete the LWAPP image:
lap_1131#delete /r /f flash:/c11310-k9w8-mx.124-3g.JA2
Not the one the has rcv in it!!!!!!
Thirdly reload the AP:
lap_1131#reload
Then issue a clear lwapp private-config
You'll end up with a clear AP.

Hi,
I configured the AP with static address:
lwapp ap ip address 192.168.1.15 255.255.255.0
lwapp ap ip defaul-gateway 192.168.1.1
lwapp ap ip controller ip address 192.168.30.5
I add managment ip address as CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER in my DNS server (dns server ip address 192.168.30.5)...
...and How the LAP will know the ip address of the dns server (to resolve the CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER to ip address of the WLC)?
?

The ap will know of the DNS server from the DHCP Address.... if you were using DNS. Since you hard coded the AP, you don't need it now. Just like how users obtain an ip and know of thesir DNS servers.... same with the ap.
