Network unreachable when pinging to a router

Hi all

I tried to issue a ping to a IP to a nei router. It give U.U.U output which is network unreacheable. what could be the issue.

Is this a directly connected router? This usually means that there is not a route to the destination that you are trying ping. The router

replied with a "U" to let you know that it does not know how to get to the destination.

If the message is network unreachable that means its not in your network either in differnet subnet or not up.
