Modular IOS

I have 2 6509E and was planning to upgrade the IOS over the weekend. What is the difference between IOS and the modular version. Is there any performance diffrence and why would I use it. Sorry to ask so many questions it is we don't get many opportunities for the user community to no be using the systems and want to take advantage of the weekend. Thanks for your input. My Sup engines are SUP 720 10GE

IOS is still more stable than modular version.

None of the modular IOS version to date have passed Safe Harbor testing. The next version that will be tested soon is 12.2(33)SXi.
