high cpu utilization on 4506

Hi,

The CPU load of our Catalyst4506 increases steadily in past days, and it is

observed CPU load get as high as 98% some time. 'show proc cpu' shows

something like:

if it has increased past days, you shoudl hopefully be able to identify what changes have triggered this.

Not knowing the configuration of ur 4506, I will give generic pointers.

1-check for increase in traffic.

2-check for increase in TCAM entries.

3-check for increase in security filters such as DAI.

Ultimately, u can always SPAN cpu traffic and analyse it.

You can follow this Link:

Bust best way to Mirror your switch interface or Vlan Interface and put sniffer.

You will have better idea, from where high traffic follows. You can stop the host and bring it down utilization.
