Device update

After patching my LMS 2.6 upto CM 4.0.10 (Solaris 9) I still observe some unwanted behaviour. When I change the name of a switch (also the DNS) this change is not recognized by Data Collection unless I delete such device and start a new network discovery cycle.

Is this normal in LMS 2.6? In LMS 2.2 this is updated automatically. Thanks

You need to edit your DeviceDiscovery.properties file, and set at least one property to true:

nameserver.updateDCRDisplayName=true

If you want the DCR display name to update with the fully-qualified hostname, also make sure the following is set to true:

nameserver.updateDomainNameSuffix=true

After doing that, the display name should be updated in DCR when a change is detected.

It didn't work, even after restarting the LMS and launching a new discovery and data collection cycle again. Is there anything else I can try?

Please post your DeviceDiscovery.properties file.
