Upgrading the CSC SSM module - need reboot?

I'm about to upgrade the CSC module on my ASA from 6.0 to 6.1. Will this cause the module itself to reboot, or the whole ASA?? If just the module, will email still go through (unfiltered)? or halt?

Thanks!

You have to reboot firewall intself.

NOT only module.

If you are re-imaging the CSC module, only the CSC module will reboot, the ASA will NOT reboot.

If you are upgrading using the PKG files, then the CSC will go down temporarily while the code/patches is loaded.

Your traffic should go through un-interrupted if you have your CSC set for 'fail-open' in the policy-map configuration of the asa (Hint: look at the output of 'show policy-map')

If it is set for fail-close, then traffic sent to the module may be interrupted until the CSC is back up and running.
