Hi,

I had a 6509 switch that had abt. 8 ports go to error disable state. There were only 5 active connections and there were no cables connected to the other 3 ports. The thing that

buffles me is that the 3 ports that have no connections also went to error disable state.

Can someone tell me why is this ?

Pls advice,

Cheers,

Did those affected ports happen to be configured in a port-channel?

Prem :

Yeah, I should have checked the logs on why did the ports went to errordisable state but I did not check that out. These are client ports. I cannot go back and check on the switch as I did not note on which switch that this happened.

Noran :

These are client ports. So no port channel or trunking were configured on these ports.

Let me know if anyone of you have experienced something similar like this before.

Thank you,

Cheers,
