Hi,

For the redistribution route into ospf. There are two type we can use.

One is metric-type 1, the other is metric-type 2. How can I choose it.

1. Under what condition use metric-type 1 or type 2?

2. Is it metric-type 1 is more prefer to use as it calculate the internal and external cost which can fully sum the

whole path so that lowest cost path can be chosen.

thanks for your help

Hi,

1. Under what condition use metric-type 1 or type 2?

When you ahve only one ASBR, it doesnt have any advantage in considering the internal cost to ASBR. So in this case,, you can use E2. But if you have 2 ASBR which advertise same routes, we use E1 to consider the cost to ASBR. So the other OSPF router will consider the path via ASBR which is close to them.

2. Is it metric-type 1 is more prefer to use ...

Yes. E1 is preferred over E2.
