power commands not available in 2811 with 9esw module

Unanswered Question

I have a POE version of the 2811 with an HWIC-D-9ESW module. I cannot do a "show power" from global config and I cannot do "power inline auto" from interface config mode. The command is not available at all. My image is an Voice/CME image v 12.4(9). Any ideas?

Thanks,

Diego

I have this problem too.

Hi, to enable poe on the hwic you also need a power module on the card, and the poe power supply.

Both are optional items to purchase. You can check what you have in the router with "show diag".

Please rate post if it helps!

The hwic part makes sense since this is a replacement hwic which they probably sent without the power module. I still have the old one that I can remove that module from.

As far as the router chassis goes the old one was an AC-IP POE model and this replacement should also be an AC-IP according to the packing slip. How can I verify this? I tried show diag and show environment and neither of these two commands shows the poe power supply. Here is the output:

C2811 Motherboard with 2FE and integrated VPN Port adapter, 2 ports

Seems to me the AC-IP is there so you're only missing the daughtercard.

Before you go crazy trying to set PCs chained to phones off the hwic, remember to configure switchport as trunk, then congiure voice vlan as usual.

Access mode does not work like on true switches.

Thanks for the appreciation and good luck!
