Could be 2 possibilities -

1) The cable between the router and the PBX is incorrect. A E1 cross over cable is normally used -

1 ---- 4

2 ---- 5

4 ---- 1

5 ---- 2

2) Based on the errors below, the framing may be incorrect. Try changing to CRC4 instead of the current NO-CRC4

E1 0/0/0 is down.

Applique type is Channelized E1 - balanced

Receiver has remote alarm.

  • Cisco Employee,

You may have a ISDN User/Network side mismatch between the gateway router and the PBX. Try the following -

clear counters

term mon

sh controllers e1

debug isdn q921

conf t

controller e1 /0/0/0

shutdown

!

no shutdown

exit

exit

If you see a message that includes the text "BAD FRAME" , change the ISDN operation from user side to network side. If the Gateway is H323, the way to do this is -

interface serial 0/0/0:15

isdn protocol-emulate network

If you are using CCM, go under the gateway endpoint configuration page and change from User to Network , save the settings and reset the gateway.
