3640 router loses configuration

Every time I save a configuration with "write memory" or "copy running-config startup-config" the router doesn't keep its settings when I turn it off. When it comes back on it just asks me if I want to enter initial setup. Then I have to manually copy the startup-config into the running config. What's wrong?

Hi,

Check if the config-register is 0x2142. If so, it will skip the startup config while booting. Change the same to "config-register 0x2102"

HTH,

Nagendra

Thanks guys. That did the trick.
