Telnet from outside switch using uplink ports

Just got a Catalyst 2960 installed.

The problem I have is that when I am connected to Fa0/1 to Fa0/24 I can get to telnet and ping the switch just fine.

Now if I run a cable between a second switch (Allied Telesyn) and one of the Fa0/1 to Fa0/24 ports I can ping switch and use telent.

Now if I use on of the ports uplink Gi0/1 or Gi0/2 nothing on the telnet or ping front. I can see devices on the switch just fine. So traffic is moving.

What have I done wrong or not done?

Hi,

Not sure of your topology, but is the gig 0/1 or 0/2 ports either configured as static access for the vlan or as trunk port?
