OSP and Static Routing together

Hi,

I hav cisco 2800 series router which is connected to core switch.In core switch and router STATIC Route has been configured.To connecr another branch I need to configure OSPF in the Router. Now My question is..

is it possible to configure both Static and OSPF in the same router??

Yes it is very much possible

But if the same prefix is being learnt from both the routing protocols, static would be preferred by default

Just to add to what Narayan says, you might want the static routes to be advertised in the OSPF so that they appear at the remote branch. In that case, you need to use the redistribute static command in the OSPF section. As far as OSPF is concerned, the router becomes an "ASBR" - "Autonomous System Border Router".

Any router carrying more than one routing protocol is known as a "border router", and the redistribute commands allow you to pass routes between the protocols.
