Hello..
I have read that the 3550 onwards series switches have the feature to convert straight through cable into cross over and vice versa. Is this true ?. If yes, then exactly from which model is this feature available

It is not true, feature AUTO MDI/MDIX have only few models - info in link below

Correct the 3550 is too old to have that feature , only a few of the newer switches have this feature .
