We have an issue where we need to disable fixup protocol, but when we do it breaks smtp relay connections. Can someone tell me what fixup smtp is? And how we can get around this.

All code for the security devices after 6.3 on the PIX got rid of the fixup and replaced it with application inspection utilizing the application inspection using MQC. Can you explain what the issue is? One of the things you should consider is using esmtp not smtp inspection if your servers are up to the current smtp RFC. that RFC defined the acceptable commands and ESMTP inspection works for them not smtp.
