official valid subnet stance for test?

Unanswered Question

Wendell Odem's Cisco press ICND1 book says that if not otherwise specified, assume the zero and broadcast subnets are valid (chart page 361), but the prepcenter online subnet game stresses very strongly that these subnets are not valid, with no other info provided. Odem explains when to use one or the other in the real world, but I don't know what to expect on the test. Does Cisco have a consistent policy about this one way or another? Thanks-

I have this problem too.

The best tip I can give you for a cisco exam is assume nothing, know what both answers would eb and respond appropriatly the exam will tell you exactly what you need to do.
