PSTN Emulation (CCVP/CCIE Voice)

Unanswered Question

Anyone configured a router for PSTN emulation? Most preperation sites are using 2811 routers, but I have a 2610XM and I believe it can accomplish the same goal when equipped with a VWIC-2MFT-T1, VWIC-2MFT-E1, and AIM-VOICE-30 module. Anyone have any comments?

Sure, all you will need is a router with a VWIC card to simulate the PSTN, interconnect the router with your environemnt router. You can use 2610XM router with a NM card that can host the VWIC card.

Make sure you configure one side to emulate ISDN network by adding the "isdn protocol-emulate network" command on the D-channel.

You will also need to interconnect the routers via a cross-over T1 cable.
