expanding dn's in callmanager

Hi:

customer has a 6.1 callmanager and wants to change all 4-digit extensions to 7-digit.

Is there an easier way to do it besides manual?

Example would be to take all ext's 5XXX and change them to 1235XXX.

the phones were migrated from a 4.1 callmanager so there are no BAT files.

thanks

Rob

Without custom tool development your best option would be to export all phones and reimport them with the new DNs. Sorry, no native way in CM to accomplish this easy.

Chris

Chris:

If you export phones, change dn's and re-import them - do they overwrite what's there or do you need to delete them in ccm before importing?

Rob

you need to delete before reimport, otherwise CUCM will tell you the MAC address is already in the system

Guys:

using bat admin>export phones, gives a txt file. Do you modify that and upload it into ccm or do you take the data and put it into a bat macro spreadsheet to create a xls file for import, like you do with new ?

Deleting phones would also cause the user device associations to be lost - yes?

Rob

you modify directly the TXT as you will use the import all options and not a template, device association should be on the file so it will be kept

okay, thanks.

what i found was that you can upload the modified text file and when you use that file to "insert phones", checking the "override existing configuration" box will modify the phone fields and you do not need to delete any phones.

Also, as you said, the user device association remains.

thanks again
