Want to change firmware type for my 7912G. It is based on SIP image CP7912010301SIP050608A
Version 1.3.1(050608A)
Can I convert it to SCCP CP7912080004SCCP080108A.sbin which is the latest version?
Many thanks. I've spent more than 4 hours reading and testing p.bevilacqua advice, but no luck.
I tried to use a laptop as a tftp server and use a layer3 switch as tftp server. Here is the tftp debug from the layer3 switch:

Hi,
your "gk" file must be wrong, how do you generated it ?
07-14-2008 04:37 AM
I read a lot useful information you've given.
1. download bmp2logo.zip from cisco web site
2. create txt file gk00141c48d472.txt:
{
#txt
upgradecode:3,0x601,0x0400,0x0100,192.172.22.1.90,69,0x080108A,CP7912080004SCCP080108A.sbin
192.172.22.1.90 is the ip address of the tftp server
}
3. C:\000>dir

C:\000>cfgfmt gk00141c48d472.txt gk00141c48d472
C:\000>
4. copy file gk00141c48d472 and
CP7912080004SCCP080108A.sbin to the tftp server.
5. power reset IP Phone 7912

Hi, your tftp address has 5 bytes !?!

I saw that. I have to wait another 48 hours to test that as I do not have PoE switch with me at the moment. Appreciate it.
I will update here after testing.
One more thing, when I tried this ont the 7912G, it looks nothing happened:
try the reset sequence: power off, press and hold #, power on, wait for led to flash in pattern, release #, press in sequence 123456789*0#.

Hi mate, the 7902/05/12 do not support any keypad reset sequence.
Thanks for the appreciation and good luck!

I bought the 7912G from ebay and it comes with SIP image. I would not buy it if I knew that. Should have asked the seller before click the button!!!
When I tried to disable the DHCP on 7912G, it ask me to input the password, is there anyway to reset the password?

No worries, just use a little bit of patience and the phone will do what you want.
The password is set via config file. Perhaps try something like 0000 or 1234.

Thanks a lot. I still do not have access to a PoE switch. I will update result here after the test.

The password is 1234. After fix the ip address, everything is working now. Thanks again.
