We have a new voice design where the traffic path is:
Verizon-->Edge_Router-->IP2IP Gateway-->Call Manager
The IP2IP Gateway router is sitting with a single ethernet interface on the core switch.
The SIP trunk is physically connected to a serial interface on the Edge router.
The system is designed to dynamically fail over to our DR site if we loose the trunk to Verizon.
The problem with this is that the
h323-gateway voip bind srcaddr
command on the ethernet interface of the IP2IP router can never detect when the serial interface of the edge router goes down.
We do not have the time to have Verizon reddesign to terminate directly to the IP2IP gateway.
Is there any way to shut down the ethernet interface of a router when the serial goes down and restore th ethernet when the serial comes up?
We tried different HSRP scenarios and we could not use the Virtual interface with the bind.
