That is not an ethernet card, it is a WAN or Voice T1/E1 card. What do you need to do ?

francisco_1 Thu, 07/17/2008 - 06:04

it got two ethernet port. need combine them as a single E1 circuit

Hi, ethernet is the LAN thing, the connector with 8 pins is called RJ-45 and sometime RJ-48.

Do you have the circuit active and delivered already ?

francisco_1 Thu, 07/17/2008 - 06:12

yes circuit is active connected to a MUX. just need to setup the VWIC card on the router and combine both E1's as a single circuit

Paolo Bevilacqua Thu, 07/17/2008 - 06:21

card type E1

network-clock-participate wic

network-clock-select 1 E1 /0

network-clock-select 2 E1 /1

controller E1 0//0

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-31

controller E1 0//1

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-31

The serial interfaces will appear, configure as usual with DEFAULTS, I recommend that initially you do NOT use multilink PPP to test the circuit first, after that you can look into "combining".

Paolo Bevilacqua Thu, 07/17/2008 - 07:50

Then replace with 1 and enter the commands above.

paolo,

i now have

controller E1 0/1/0

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-31

!

controller E1 0/1/1

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-31

!

!

interface Serial0/1/0:0

no ip address

!

interface Serial0/1/1:0

no ip address

i gues i need to use multilink ppp to combine both serial sub interfaces right?

francisco_1 Thu, 07/17/2008 - 07:52

so both CTRLR E1 0 and CTRLR E1 1 now appears how the serial interfaces. right?

do you have a sample config to combine both cards using multilink ppp or should i just use EIGRP?

is66rlhntadm Thu, 07/17/2008 - 08:33

1. they may look like rj-45's (which you think is ethernet but their not ethernet)

the card is a dual port channelized e1/t1 card

are they connecting to an MPLS or to the internet

if MPLS then eigrp could load balance but if its an internet connecting the multilinkPPP should be the way

Paolo Bevilacqua Thu, 07/17/2008 - 08:42

Hi,

use eigrp for now and test the circuits to be perfectly clean for few days. Then if you don't like performances or anything you can do mlppp, but you need to configure the router on the other side as well.

francisco_1 Thu, 07/17/2008 - 08:46

haved used mlppp.

controller E1 0/1/0

framing NO-CRC4

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-31

!

controller E1 0/1/1

framing NO-CRC4

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-31

!

!

!

interface Multilink1

ip address **********************

no cdp enable

ppp multilink

ppp multilink fragment disable

ppp multilink group 1

!

!

interface Serial0/1/0:0

bandwidth 2048

no ip address

encapsulation ppp

no cdp enable

ppp multilink

ppp multilink group 1

!

interface Serial0/1/1:0

no ip address

encapsulation ppp

no cdp enable

ppp multilink

ppp multilink group 1

have i missed anything? will eigrp just see mlppp interface or both serials? how about using CEF?

Paolo Bevilacqua Thu, 07/17/2008 - 08:59

Seems ok. Check "show controllers E1" to see what how the circuits are doing.

Note unless you configure mlppp on the other end too, nothing will work.

You have not rated any post so far, it is customer to do so as an appreciation for the frre help received.

paolo i appreciate your help and i have rated you. sometimes i go through a lot to help someone with their questions and they never receive any ratings.

I think this site should have rules about rating.

Thanks for your help today.

Ultimately rating is left to the fairness of the person.

I don't mind reminding people because I have a direct approach to everything.

Thanks and good luck!

Hello All,

I don't mean to thread jack but I have a question that pertains to this hardware device. I have a Cisco 2811 routers, and WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 cards. The customers budget is only allowing for two more T1's; I was thinking of purchasing the VWIC-2MFT-T1 cards. My question is will the VWIC card work with my router and will I be able to multilink these two different types of cards together and across multiple serial interfaces?

Thanks for your help in advance.......
