Cisco 877W and Websense

Unanswered Question

Hello,

I have a private network on 10.0.5.0, with a Websense server on 10.0.5.20. All client machines on the lan use 10.0.5.20 as the default gateway and dns server. The websense server also has another network card with address 192.168.0.2, and the cisco 877 router has inside address of 192.168.0.1. Will I need to configure an access list to allow traffic from 192.168.0.2(The Websense server) to the internet, or will just the default route suffice?

I have this problem too.

Hi,

If you have a websense server that supports integration, it might be much easier to to configure websense filtering on the Csico router instead of internet traffic passing through the websense server. See here... http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2t/12_2t15/feature/guide/ftwebsen.html#wp1027186

However, to answer your question. You probably don;t need an access list to allow traffci from the websense server. This will be allowed automatically. What you may need is a static route for traffic on the 10.0.5.0 network point to the websense server.

ip route 10.0.5.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.2.

HTH - Pls rate if it does.

Stephen
