trouble accessing secondary ip block added to interface vlan on msfc I have a customer that wants to add a secondary ip block to existing primary ip block on interface vlan but, they are using hsrp when i added the secondary ip block to there existing interface vlan they are not able to access the secondary ip block nor am i able to ping any ip with the block accept for the ip address that is added to the interface vlan is this possible to do i need help with this please

Jarrett,

You can use secondary IP's in HSRP too. See below for an example.

Router A

interface Vlan1

ip address 10.0.2.2 255.255.255.0 secondary

ip address 10.0.1.1 255.255.255.0

Router B

interface vlan1

ip address 10.0.2.3 255.255.255.0 secondary

ip address 10.0.1.3 255.255.255.0

HSRP commands

standby 1 ip 10.0.1.1

standby 1 ip 10.0.2.1 secondary

standby 1 preempt

standby 1 priority 130
