Hi, Experts :)

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps6021/product_data_sheet0900aecd8017a72e.html#wp9000296

in the end of the data sheet

1 The Cisco Catalyst 4948 has 52 physical switching ports (48 10/100/1000 and 4 SFP) on the front panel. Up to 48 of these ports can be active at one time in any combination.

Do you know the reason for such restrictions?

Thanks,

Aleksey

Hi,

Cant find anything to confirm why this is, but you can bet that it will be because the last 4 ports, the SFP ports, will use the same connections onto the backplane as either the first or last 4 rj45 ports.

This is just so you have the option of doing fiber.
