Hi, I would like to upgrade DRAM 512MB to 1 GB in Cisco 3845. Without shutdown how to know whether DRAM placed in one or two DIMMS or SIMMS.

from the cli type "sh tech-support" you will see something like:-
Dimm 0 SPD data :
Size of dimm = 256 Megabytes
Memory Type = 0x7
There is a lot of data from the output, I suggest you log it to a text file, then search for it.

Thanks for your reply. As per the doc i came to know that DRAM modules are placed in my cisco 3845, But i want to know exactly existing 512MB DRAM whether it is placed as single 512MB DRAM OR two 256MB DRAMs.
If it is single 512MB DRAM, i will go for purchase of another single 512MB DRAM.
OR,If it is two 256MB DRAMs, i will go for purchase single 1 GB DRAM.
So suggest me any command or solution to know above said without shutdown the Cisco 3845.
