hi ,
Can any one tell me how ATM and MPLS works interms of technolgy.
Few basic diffrences are required and which one is preferred in stablity and cost.

Hi,
ATM is now a legagcy technology and it would be best to steer away from that if rolling out new infrastructure.
MPLS over ATM, is a way of running MPLS switching across your exisiting ATM infrastructure, it uses the VPI/VCI ATM cell header to forward MPLS packets through the core instead of using ATM cells natively.

I suggested using frame based MPLS instead of cell based.
essentially, when you configure your VPI/VCI link have it a layer 3 subnet (/30 for example) and then tag switch on the link.
This way you will have a simpler setup, specialy if u wish to migrate top Ethernet later on.
