Can you explain a little more? CUP clients (CUPC) login through CUCM directory. If CUCM is LDAP enabled and authentication, then it will use LDAP for authentication.

No matter what though, the directory on CUPS/CUPC has to come from an LDAP source such as AD. It can not use CUCM as the directory lookup for IM and or other CUPC subscribers.

Check the latest SRND for UCM and dig through the chapter on Presence. There is a good diagram that shows the various components (CUPS, UCM, LDAP, OCS if you want) and how they talk to each other.
