Hey guys --
Is there a way to both monitor a line and overlay the number? Basically I have an admin that is looking to pickup calls for his Manager (the overlay), but we also need to know when the manager is on the phone (monitor).
He has a 7965, so since I had extra buttons to play with, I was able to use the extra buttons to monitor the line, but I cannot monitor the same line that is overlayed, please see snippet below for explanation.
ephone 16
mac-address 0021.5555.3D78
username "pharwin" password cisco
type 7965
button 1:8 2c5,31 3c6,32 4:20
button 5m31 6m32
!
LIFESCI_CME#config t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
LIFESCI_CME(config)#ephone 16
LIFESCI_CME(config-ephone)#button 5m5 6m6
dn 5 assigned to button 2: this CLI is ignored!
LIFESCI_CME(config-ephone)#
Looking at buttons, 2, 3, 5 and 6 respectively.
Any thoughts? Is there a better way to do this?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Ohamien

How about making it a shared line on one button? You can ans call on that shared line and also see if the shared line is being used (which means the manager is on the phone?).
