MGCP Domain names

I understand that we need to ensure that the host name of the router matches the domain name in CCM and if you want " "hostname.cisco.com" then you need add the ip domain commend, as well as making the router name the same as well. The question I have is does the router name need to be in DNS for MGCP . When the router tries to registers with CCM as below you can see the IP address of the Router 22.36.173.1

Jul 25 08:54:42.467: cmapp_mgr_process_mgcp_oper_state_change()

but then request to CCM as below I do not see any response

RSIP 5231303 *@BESRST.be.net.intra MGCP 0.1

RM: restart

I need to check the local Firewall but I just need to confirm the DNS quesiton-should the call manager use the IP address of the router which is sent by the router when it tires to register? -*Jul 25 08:54:42.483: cmbh_open_tcp_link: Opening TCP link with Rem IP 22.0.81.22, Local IP 22.36.173.1, port 2428

thanks

If your callmanger version is 4.X then you need to edit the etc hosts file in callmanager, both your publisher and subscriber, and add the hostname (BESRST.be.net.intra) and its ip address.

Please rate all useful posts

It is a CUCM 6.0 but on the LMHOST file on 4.x you only enter the other Servers in the cluster not any GW- Or that is what I have done in tee past

If its ccm6. You dont need to do this.

Just make sure that in this case if your gateway hostname is BERST. hence the ip domain on your dateway must be.net.intra.

so you have this as your endpint on ccm. BESRST.be.net.intra

Once this is okay.do the following

conf t

no mgcp

mgcp.

Done all this when the MGCP sends a registration request

We do not receive anything back from CUCM but you can ping ok the GW via the IP address and Host name. The router is a 2801 with a card in the 0/1/0 slot as per voice port in the attached file

Though the Router is in Belgium we had to have a UK DNS prefix for other reasons
