single switch and stp

hi every body!

I just want to know if:

we have one switch and we connect fo/1 of the switch to f0/2 of the same switch,assuming stp is enabled,Will f0/1 would be designated port or rootport?

A loop will be detected and the port will be shutdown.

Hi,

maybe some switches behave differently, but on a 3560G the only thing that happens is that port f0/2 is blocking, f0/1 ist in forwarding state because of its lower mac-address. but you won't see that port f0/1 has become a reals root port, it's only forwarding.
