Plantronics Headsets on 7941 phones

I have a new installation of 7941 phones on CUCM 6.1. Customer is using some Plantronics Headsets (some existing, some new), but none seem to work unless they are plugged into the Handset port of the phone. They then work if the Headset button is pressed. If Headsets are plugged into the Handset port, the Handset does not work.

As far as I know, I don't have to configure anything on the CUCM to enable Headsets.

Has anyone seen this before, or is there something missing?

Hi Colin,

What model of Plantronics Headset are you using? We have used many corded models like the H-91, H-101, H-171's. The one part you will need which is required for all "corded" Plantronics Headsets (to go from Headset Jack on 7941 to "Quick Disconnect" on Headset) is a special Cord (shown below);

Part#Amp-26716-01

If these are Cordless Headsets like the CS-55 or CS-70 Series make sure you set the Compatibility wheel on the Base Station to #4

Hope this helps!

Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for getting back to me. All Headsets are corded, and are all Plantronics. I know that some are Plantronics Polaris N364. As far as I know, the customer does not use Amplifiers on these.

Are the Amplifiers required on corded headsets with 7941s?

Thanks

Col.

Hi Colin,

You are most welcome :) No, the Amplifiers are not required. That is part of the beauty of the IP Phones.

Hope this helps!

Rob

Hi Rob,

If we need to connect headset with 7941 IP Phone only Plantronics h91 headset alone is ok or do we need to order any cable, it is bit confused.

Customer needs to use headset with IPPhone 7941, please suggest me a solution.

Hey Bala,

Yes, with Cisco phones like the 7941G you will need this Cord to go from Headset Jack

on the rear of the 7941 to the "Quick  Disconnect" on Headset itself)

Part#Amp-26716-01

Order one of these per Headset and you'll be good to go

Cheers!

Rob
