Hi,

How would one go about setting the 1000Mbps speed to a ASA 5510 with the "security plus" license?

This is what I'm getting on any interface:

fw(config-if)# speed ?

interface mode commands/options:

10 Force 10 Mbps operation

100 Force 100 Mbps operation

auto Enable AUTO speed configuration

Thanks.

Gabi

hi,

please post output of the command

"show int ip bri"

with the sec+ license, only interfaces 0 and 1 are gig enabled. the others are only 10/100.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/prod_models_comparison.html

... and still I can't set eighter e0/0 or e0/1 to gigabit.

fw(config)# sh int ip bri

Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol

Ethernet0/0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx YES CONFIG up up

Ethernet0/1 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx YES CONFIG up up

Ethernet0/2 unassigned YES unset administratively down down

Ethernet0/3 unassigned YES unset administratively down down

Management0/0 unassigned YES unset administratively down down

Beginning with Cisco ASA Software v7.2.3, the ASA 5510 Security Plus license enables 2 10/100/1000 interfaces and 3 10/100 interfaces

What Cisco ASA Software do you have?

Yes, I know about that, thank you.

I have version 8.0(2), Security Plus license.

Do any of you know how this works - it's set automatically to 1Gbps or do you need to set it.

Thanks.

Is this a known bug?

Given that I have a version higher that 7.2(3) I should have this option too...

Its not a 'bug'. Cisco maintains multiple versions at once 7.0.x 7.2.x 8.0.x etc. So it doesnt mean 7.2(3) is older than 8.0(2).

I've upgraded to 8.0(4). Now it works although there is no mention in the release notes about this.

Thanks!

Gabi

Thanks for the update and I'm glad you have it working now :).

But I just checked the release notes and its mentioned there albeit in a slightly covert manner :)

CSCsl53995

5510 interface can be set to1000Mbps with base license
