Loopback interfaces are virtual interfaces and therefore are not succeptable to hw failure. also I use Loopbacks in OSPF evnironments for router identifier

Ex:

interface loopback0

ip address x.x.x.x. y.y.y.y

router ospf

router-id x.x.x.x. where x.x.x.x is the loopback0 interface created. HTH

Hi Alexandr Kulbida,

Loopback interface can be used for OSPF, IPSLA, SNMP TRAP, NTP etc.
