Hi,

Is there a command which can show bytes in /bytes out on CatOS ? something like show int fas 0/0 in IOS which tells 5 minutes average bytes in /out.

To obtain the bit rate, multiple the Octet-Rate by 8.

Port 7/8 is transmitting at 4,201,504 bits per second (4.2Mbps)

Port 7/8 is receiving at 4,920,608 bits per second (4.9Mbps)

Newer CatOS versions display the bit rate information along with the octet and packet rate.

Hi Edison,

Thank you for your reponse.

How will interpret following output ?

show mac utilization 7/48

5 minutes input/output port rates:

Port Xmit-Packet-Rate Xmit-Octet-Rate

----- -------------------- --------------------

7/48 1216 525188

Port Rcv-Packet-Rate Rcv-Octet-Rate

----- -------------------- --------------------

7/48 1236 615076

do these number represent bytes or packets ?what is octet rate ?

On a CatOS system use the Show Top commnand. You will first use the Show Top All Back command to start the report. The default is 30 secs. Once the report is complete you can use the Show Top Report . is the report number. This will show you the top talkers of the switch that you did the report on. It shows you the percentage and bytes xmit and rcv. This command should assist you in your needs...Good Luck...
