Hi,
I have installed a Network Analysis Module (NAM2) in a catalyst 6500.
After this I saw with "sh monitor session" a session 1 / Type Service Modul Session". Depending on this I am only able to configure two more sessions,
when I want to configure a third session for capturing traffic on the NAM I got an error message, that this is not possible. The documentation means that I can configure two span ports for traffic capturing, but depending on the first automatically created session it does not work, because all together I have three sessions. Has anyone an idea, how I can get my two session for NAM capturing and for what is the first session ?
Regards Mike

You can have more destinations and sources per session.
CR10#sho monitor sess 1
Session 1
---------
Type : Local Session
Source VLANs :
Both : 298
Destination Ports : Gi3/13,Gi3/16,analysis-module 9 data-port 1
CR10#sho monitor sess 2
Session 2
---------
Type : Local Session
Source VLANs :
Both : 41,300,449,651-652,701-702,708,801-802
Destination Ports : analysis-module 9 data-port 2
Hope this helps

Hi Mats,
thank you for your answer. I habe tried your suggestion:
sh monitor
Session 1
---------
Type : Service Module Session
Modules allowed : 1-6
Modules active : 6
BPDUs allowed : Yes
Session 66
----------
Type : Local Session
Source Ports :
Both : Gi5/1
Destination Ports : Fa3/48
RZR-E1(config)#monitor session 1 source vlan 241 both
% Session 1 used by service module

I have no idea about service module session!
I'm running 12.2(18)SXD7b. I think I had a session 1 when I installed the NAM in slot 9.
