In UCM 6.1 is the a way to configure distinctive rings for internal and external calls. In legacy PBX's you had the ability to vary the ring cadence based on whether the call was from and internal source or an external source

Although this would be a feature that is great and has been asked for many times. The ringer itself is set per line, and thats about the granularity of it! There is no way to change the ringer for external and internal calls going to the same phone number, you will only get a single ring! You will have to work within these standards.

Actually there IS distinctive ringing for internal and external calls. The problem is that it's the same ring tone played with a different cadence by default. Try listening to the phone ringing for an internal and external extension and you will notice a difference. Unfortunatly there is no way to setup a different ringtone for those calls.

Distinctive Ringing is a feature that has been available on Cisco CallManager 3.0 when you use Skinny Gateways such as the DT24+ or the 6608 T-1 blade. However, this functionality is not available until release 3.1.2c with use of an H.323 gateway. In order to enable Distinctive Ringing, you must set the service parameter H323NetworkLocationOffNet to True.

Actually, in 6.1 there is no such service parameter and distinctive ringing happens automatically between OnNet and Offnet calls (just the cadence, as was pointed out before).
