SIP-400/SPA-2X1GE-V2, mls qos trust dscp command not available?

hi,

I'm testing a spa-2x1ge-v2 plugged into a sip-400 in a 7609. I've got qos enabled globally. When I go into my gig interface and try to turn on 'mls qos trust dscp' the command just isn't there. Is it called something else for this SIP/SPA combo? I'm getting worried because when I do 'sh mls qos' I see no qos counters for the SIP-400. I expected to see counters like I see when I have a SIP-600/SPA-10X1GE-V2 connected. (I'm running c7600s72033-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SRB3.bin)

Any ideas?

thanks,

Andy

Hello Andy,

the different behaviour could be derived from the different characteristics of SIP400 and SIP600.

If I remember correctly from one presentation on the inside of C7600: SIP600 hosts a DFC while SIP400 hasn't this DFC on board

download the following pdf about SIP and SPA

Hope to help

Hi Andy,

The SPA-2x1GE-V2 is a WAN card, you should use the interface level command "service-policy" to apply a QoS policy, and the "policy map" to configure QoS policy.

Please see attach link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps368/module_installation_and_configuration_guides_chapter09186a0080440138.html#wp1162382

Here is the MQC config guideline:

Hello Andrew!

Both Giuseppe and Jerry are right. On Flexwan, SIP-400 and SIP-200 you have to apply Qos using a service policy and the MLS qos commands wouldnot be available. SIP-600 is an exception as it has a DFC and the supervisor-tables (fwd tables) residing on it. So to some extent SIP-600 is different from the other WAN cards and shows support for many LAN-card-like features.

Also to note that "trust ip dscp" would not be required on a WAN card like sip-400 because the dscp/cos trust is enabled by default on the WAN cards. The wan cards wouldnot re-write the markings on the packet.

Hope this helps.

Niranjan

hi Niranjan,

thanks! This answers my question. I was not aware that the sip-400 would trust DSCP by default.

Thanks to everyone else who responded with useful links & information also.

bye,

Andy
