Hi, I am setting up a 15454 MSTP and will be inputting alien wavelengths into the system. Does anyone know if there is documentation to do this? I have not found it. Thanks, Eric

Hi Eric
I'm not sure, but I think alien wavelength are NC circuits in 15454. A NC circuit is a Optical Network Connection from a Add/Drop Port to another Add/Drop Port.
Here is a link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/optical/15000r8_5/dwdm/procedure/guide/d85crch.html#wp645304
I hope this helps.
Cheers

Dear Eric,
from a setup perspective this question has already been answered in a previous post. The only information I would like to add is how you would design the alien wave in the first place through the use of Cisco TransportPlanner / MetroPlanner.
To support alien waves (a.k.a. black links) you would need to find the pertinent information as described in (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/optical/metroplanner/metroplanner_8_5/operations/guide/mp80apd.html) and build a Third-Party interface model. This model would then be installed in CTP as described in (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/optical/metroplanner/metroplanner_8_5/operations/guide/mp8002.html#wp1268690).
After those steps, you can use CTP in the usual manner to design your DWDM network using the alien wavelength model you have just created.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
/Dirk
