Why do my LAPs continue to broadcast WLC Discovery Requests every 30sec even though they are already associated to a WLC and have static IP addresses?

These are keep alive heartbeats with the controller, the AP does this to ensure the controller still exists.

But these are broadcasts on the subnet....the WLCs are all on different subnets, so they don't even see, or answer, these requests.

This is normal... that is why Cisco states that no more than 20 ap on the same subnet as the management interface and no more that 60-100 ap's on a given subnet that is not the same subnet as the management interface.
